Etymology

ᄀᆞ로 (kolwo, horizontally) +‎ 디다 (tita, to fall), from Middle Korean ᄀᆞᄅᆞ디다 (kolo tita). “To die an unnatural death” is a calque of Chinese 橫死横死 (hèngsǐ, literally to die horizontally).
