Laz
[edit]Alternative forms
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Proto-Georgian-Zan, for which Čuxua reconstructs *xaš-ar-, assuming loss of რ (r). Cognate with Georgian ხაშარი (xašari). Note that *a is preserved in Zan only in word-final positions, thus this reconstruction requires the loss of რ (r) to have happened very early on. As such, a more straightforward reconstruction is simply *xaš-, with different suffixes in Laz and Georgian.
Noun
[edit]ხოშკა • (xoşǩa) (plural ხოშკაფე, Latin spelling xoşǩa) (Atina, Vizha, Artasheni)
