[edit]According to Klimov, from Proto-Kartvelian *q̇le (“penis”).[1] Čuxua together with dialectal Georgian ღლავი (ɣlavi, “young boy”) derives from Proto-Kartvelian *ɣlaw-; for the word-initial Svan ყ (q̇) ~ Georgian ღ (ɣ) correspondence, compare Proto-Kartvelian *q̇wiz₁-, *q̇welp-.[2]
