Etymology
[edit]From Old Armenian պատրոյկ (patroyk), պատրոյգ (patroyg, “wick”), more precisely from its later forms attested as Middle Armenian պատրուկ (patruk), պատրուք (patrukʻ), which developed regularly within Armenian. Ultimately of Middle Iranian origin.
