[edit]From ოხორი (oxori, “house”) + სქირი (skiri, “son”), literally “son of house”. For other compound nouns made with ოხორი (oxori), declaring "kinship and social status", compare ოხორჯა (oxorca), ოხრასურე (oxrasure) and ოხოჭკურა (oxoç̌ǩura).
