მდელოჲ
Appearance
Old Georgian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Armenian *deło (“vegetation, grass, herb”), the ancestor of Old Armenian դեղ (deł), genitive դեղոյ (dełoy).[1][2][3]
If, however, this word is cognate with Mingrelian დოლო (dolo), ნდოლო (ndolo), then Proto-Georgian-Zan *dol- is reconstructible, whose vocalism is incompatible with the Armenian. For the rare cases of umlaut in Georgian, see Sarǯvelaʒe.[4]
Noun
[edit]მდელოჲ • (mdeloy)
Usage notes
[edit]In translations, corresponds to Old Armenian խոտ (xot), դալար (dalar), դեղ (deł), օճառ (ōčaṙ) and բանջար (banǰar).
Derived terms
[edit]- მდელოვანი (mdelovani)
- მდელოჲსმძოარი (mdeloysmʒoari)
