Particularly: “Not given etymology by STEDT (âŋ "table divided into columns"), and not mentioned by Luce 1981. Seems like it could be a semantic extension of the "lake" sense in Etymology 1, via "lake" > "broad clear defined space" > "square" > "columnar mystic table".”
