Particularly: “Not given etymology by STEDT (rweʼ "move from one's place"). Luce compares (for the causative transitive form ရွှေ့ (hrwe.)) Old Chinese 揮 (OC *qʰul, “to move, shake”).[1] This seems feasible, though the Old Chinese form would have to "undergo metathesis" to more closely match the Burmese. Starostin's comparison with 轉 (OC *tonʔ, *tons, “to turn, revolve”) seems phonetically less convincing.”
