Etymology

Said by the Myanmar–English Dictionary to have been borrowed from Pali bhaga (luck, fortune), but this is phonologically unlikely. Rather, more like to be from Sanskrit पुण्य (puṇya, virtue, purity) or Pali puñña (merit).
