[edit]From Hindi फ़िरंगी (firaṅgī), from Classical Persian فرنگی (farangī, firingī), from Old French franc. Compare Khmer បារាំង (baarang), Thai ฝรั่ง (fà-ràng). Doublet of ဖရန့် (hpa.ran.).
