Particularly: “Uncertain; not given etymology by STEDT (htɑ¹ mɑŋ³ "rice (cooked)"), while Luce seems to consider the second syllable related to Old Chinese (OC *miːʔ, “rice”).[1] The Burmese form is also phonetically similar to Iraqi Arabic تمن (timman, rice), though this may be coincidental.”
