[edit]From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *r-kəw ~ hu (“to steal”). Cognate with Burmese ခိုး (hkui:, “to steal”), Nuosu ꈐ (ku), ꈏꐷ (kux njie, “to steal”), Naxi kv (“to steal”), Jingpho lägu (“to steal”), Drung keu (“to steal”), Yakkha खुमा (khuma, “to steal”) and Chinese 寇 (OC *kʰoːs, “to rob”). Related to རྐུན་མ (rkun ma, “robber, thief”).
