[edit]From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *(g/k)raŋ (“to count, to measure”) (STEDT). Cognate to Chinese 量 (“to measure”), Khaling ʾkhran-ne, Burmese ခြင် (hkrang, “to measure capacity”), Nusu xɹɯ³¹ (“to count”).
