แอ๊บแบ๊ว
Appearance
Thai
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Uncertain. A disputed suggestion by the Royal Institute of Thailand says the term is from:
- Thai แอ๊บ (ɛ́ɛp), a clipping of English abnormal + (a) แบ๊ว, a clipping of Thai บ้องแบ๊ว (bɔ̂ng-bɛ́o, “childishly cute; innocently cute”), or
- Thai แอบ (ɛ̀ɛp, “secretly; to do (something) secretly”) + (a), or
- English act + (a).[1]
