1. A Thai vowel letter composed of ◌ิ and ' (ฝนทอง). It can be informally called สระอี.

Usage notes

When it is solely used with a consonant, it produces /iː/. It is also used as a vowel component to produce other sounds as follows:

• เ◌ีย becomes /ia̯/.
• เ◌ียะ becomes /ia̯ʔ/.
