Letter

[edit]

  1. A Thai vowel letter traditionally named พินทุ์อิ or พินทุอิ. It can be informally called สระอิ.

Usage notes

[edit]

When it is solely used with a consonant, it produces /i/ with a final consonant, or /iʔ/ without one. It is also used as a vowel component like เ◌ิ becoming /ɤː/, or sometimes /ɤ/, which is always followed by a final consonant. If there is the killer mark ◌์ over it, it becomes silent.
