[edit]From สุก (sùk, “done: cooked sufficiently”) + เอา (ao, “to accept; to take”) + เผา (pǎo, “to burn; to roast”) + กิน (gin, “to consume; to take; to eat; to drink”); literally "[just being] cooked is acceptable, [just being] roasted is edible".
