Etymology

Borrowed from Pali micchādiṭṭhi (“heresy”, literally “wrong view”), from micchā (“wrong”) + diṭṭhi (“view”), equivalent to Thai มิจฉา (mít-chǎa, “wrong”) +‎ ทิฐิ (tít-tì, “view”). Compare Sanskrit मिथ्यादृष्टि (mithyādṛṣṭi). Cognate with Khmer មិច្ឆាទិដ្ឋិ (micchaatɨttheʼ); Lao ມິດສາທິດຖິ (mit sā thit thi).
