[edit]From Old Khmer jvāra (“fever and other illnesses”), ultimately from Sanskrit ज्वर (jvara, “pain; grief”). Cognate with Modern Khmer ឈួន (chuən). Extended as Thai ประชวร (bprà-chuuan).
