Etymology
[edit]Semi-learned borrowing from Malay kemenyan (possibly via Classical Malay kamiñan).[1][2] Cognate with Khmer កំញាន (kɑmñaan), Western Cham [script needed] (kamơñan), Burmese ကက္ကုကမျဉ်း (kakku.ka.myany:).
It was believed that it borrowed from Mon [komyaan][3] which did not exist.
