[edit]From Sanskrit क्षत्र (kṣatra, “the kṣatriya social class; member of this class”), possibly via Old Khmer °ក្សត្រ (°ksatra), ក្ឞត្រ (kṣatra, “reigning monarch; king; prince”). Cognate with Modern Khmer ក្សត្រ (ksat).
