Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀯𑀺𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀼𑀮𑀻 (vijjulī), 𑀯𑀺𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀼𑀮𑀺𑀆 (vijjuliā), from Sanskrit विद्युल्लता (vidyullatā, “forked lightning”), from विद्युत् (vidyut, “lightning”) + लता (latā, “creeper, vine, liana”); regarding the semantics, the shape of the lightning can be compared to that of a creeper.[1][2] Doublet of વિદ્યુત (vidyut).
