[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀪𑀸𑀭 (bhāra), from Sanskrit भार (bhāra, “weight, burden”), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰārás, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰorós, from the root *bʰer- (“to bear, carry”). Doublet of ભાર (bhār, “weight”). Cognate with Punjabi بھارا / ਭਾਰਾ (bhārā), Romani pharo.
