[edit]Inherited from Old Gujarati दीधउं (dīdhaüṃ), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀤𑀺𑀤𑁆𑀥 (*diddha) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-). Western Indo-Aryan cognates include Marwari दीधौ (dīdhau) and Malvi दीदो (dīdo), दीधो (dīdho). Early New Indo-Aryan cognates include Old Hindi दीधौ (dīdhau) and Old Marathi 𑘟𑘲𑘠𑘩𑘹𑘽 (dīdhaleṃ).
