[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀝𑁄𑀧𑀺𑀆 (ṭopiā) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-). Cognate with Assamese টুপী (tupi), Bengali টুপি (ṭupi), Hindi टोपी (ṭopī), Marathi टोपी (ṭopī), Nepali टोपी (ṭopī).
