Etymology

Inherited from Old Punjabi ਵੰਞਣੁ (vaññaṇu), from Sanskrit वञ्चति (vañcati, to move, crawl, travel), from the root वञ्च् (vañc). Akin to Saraiki ونڄݨ (vañaṇ). Compare Urdu بچنا (bacnā, to escape, be saved).
