Ultimately from Sanskrit चक्र (cakrá), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ćakrám, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *čakrám, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷékʷlos (circle, wheel). Cognate with English wheel. Doublet of ਚੱਕਰ (cakkar) and ਚੱਕ (cakka).
