Borrowed from Classical Persian حضرت (hazrat), from Arabic حَضْرَة (ḥaḍra, “presence”). Cognate with Assamese হজৰৎ (hozorot), Hindustani حضرت / हज़रत (hazrat), Punjabi حَضْرَت (ḥaẓrat), Sindhi حَضْرَتُ (hazratu).
