[edit]Inherited from Old Bengali শুয়র (śuar), from Magadhi Prakrit *𑀲𑀽𑀅𑀭 (*sūara), from Sanskrit सूकर (sūkara), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *suHkarás, from Proto-Indo-European *suH-kéh₂ (“pig, swine”). Cognate with Rohingya cúwor and Hindi सूअर (sūar). Doublet of শুকর (śukor), an ardhatatsama.
