[edit]Form Early Assamese মাঝ (majho), from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀫𑀚𑁆𑀛 (majjha), from Sanskrit মধ্য (madhya), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *mádʰyas, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *mádʰyas, from Proto-Indo-European *médʰyos (“between, in the middle, middle”). Cognate with Bengali মাঝ (majh), Sylheti ꠝꠣꠏ (mazó).
