[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian فالوده (fālūda), reborrowed from Arabic فَالُودَة (fālūda), from Middle Persian [script needed] (pʾlwtk' /pālūdag/, “starch jelly, flummery”, past participle), nominalized from [script needed] (pʾlwtn' /pālūdan/, “to strain, filter, purify”), ultimately from Proto-Iranian *para-dā́wati. Cognate with Hindustani فالوده / फ़ालूदा (fālūdā), Gujarati ફાલુદા (phāludā), Punjabi ਫ਼ਲੂਦਾ (falūdā), Sindhi فالودو (fālūdo).
