Borrowed from Classical Persian ناراض (nārāz, unwilling), from ناـ (nā-), and Arabic رَاض (rāḍ). By surface analysis, না (na) +‎ রাজী (raji). Cognate with Assamese নাৰাজ (naraz), Odia ନାରାଜ (nārāja), Maithili नाराज (nārāj), Hindustani ناراض (nārāz) / नाराज़ (nārāz), Gujarati નારાજ (nārāj), Marathi नाराज (nārāj), Punjabi ਨਾਰਾਜ਼ (nārāz), Sindhi ناراض (nārāz).
