[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit গোধূম (godhūma), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *gandʰúHmas ~ *gantúHmas, possibly ultimately from Semitic (compare Proto-Semitic *ḥnṭ). Cognate with Hindi गेहूँ (gehū̃). Doublet of গোমধান (gümodhan) and গম (gom).
