Vowel lowering (/i/ → /e/), through umlaut, triggered by the following open vowel (/a/) in কিনা (kina); ultimately from Sanskrit क्रीणाति (krīṇāti). Doublet of ক্রয় (kroẏ, purchase) and ক্রেতা (kreta, buyer).
