Inherited from Sanskrit কুঞ্চিকা (kuñcikā). Cognate with Sylheti ꠇꠥꠌꠤꠀ (kusia), Bengali কুঁচে (kũce).

Instrumental 2: Alternatively -এদি (-edi) is used instead of the default -এৰে (-ere) in Standard Assamese.
