[edit]The word forms by Dvandva compound of অকট (okṭo) + বিকট (bikṭo). The word অকট (okṭo) derives from Sanskrit अक्कट (akkaṭa), which remains unchanged in Pali অক্কট (akkaṭa), which eventually enters Middle Bengali as অকট (okṭo), while the Sanskrit विकट (vikaṭa) remains unchanged. According to Bangla Academy Byaboharik Bangla Obhidhan, the words derived from Sanskrit अकृत (akṛta) and विकृत (vikṛta) respectively.
