Etymology

From Proto-Indo-Iranian *ȷ́ʰarmyám (house, building). Cognate with Avestan 𐬰𐬀𐬌𐬭𐬌𐬨𐬌𐬌𐬁𐬎𐬎𐬀𐬧𐬙 (zairimiiāuuaṇt, with a permanent house).
