[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘭𑘦𑘜𑘹 (samaṇe), 𑘭𑘦𑘰𑘜𑘹 (samāṇe), 𑘭𑘰𑘦𑘰𑘜𑘹 (sāmāṇe), 𑘭𑘰𑘦𑘰𑘧𑘜𑘹 (sāmāyaṇe) 𑘭𑘰𑘦𑘰𑘪𑘜𑘹 (sāmāvaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀲𑀁𑀫𑀸𑀇 (saṃmāi), from Sanskrit संमाति (saṃmāti).
