[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian شتر (šutur), from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (GMRA), [Book Pahlavi needed] (ʾwštl /uštar/, “camel”), from Proto-Iranian *úštrah, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *úštras. Doublet of ऊँट (ū̃ṭ) and उष्ट्र (uṣṭra).
