Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Dravidian, ultimately from Proto-Dravidian *waẓVtV; compare Malayalam വഴുതനങ്ങ (vaḻutanaṅṅa). Related to other names for the same plant, such as भण्टाकी (bhaṇṭākī), वृन्ताक (vṛntāka).
