[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘩𑘰𑘝 (lāta), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀮𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀸 (lattā). Related to लाथाडणे (lāthāḍṇe). Cognate with Gujarati લાત (lāt), Hindustani لَات (lāt) / लात (lāt), Sindhi لَتَ / लत, Punjabi ਲੱਤ (latta) / لَتّ (latt), Maithili लात (lāt) / 𑒪𑒰𑒞 (lāta), Bengali লাথি (lathi), Assamese লাথ (lath).
