[edit]From Prakrit 𑀮𑀟𑁆𑀟𑀺𑀅 (laḍḍia, “caressing”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀮𑁆𑀮- (-illa-) + -𑀓- (-ka-), ultimately from Sanskrit लड् (laḍ, “to play”). Equivalent to लाड़ (lāṛ, “affection”) + -ला (-lā).
