[edit]Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀮𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀼𑀟 (lakkuḍa), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *lakkuṭa. Compare Old Marathi 𑘩𑘰𑘽𑘎𑘳𑘚 (lāṃkuḍa), 𑘩𑘰𑘎𑘳𑘘 (lākuṭa), Sanskrit लकुट (lakuṭa), लगुड (laguḍa). Cognate with Gujarati લાકડું (lākḍũ), Hindi लकड़ (lakaṛ), लक्कड़ (lakkaṛ), लकड़ा (lakṛā), Sindhi لَڪُڙُ / लकुड़ु (lakuṛu), Punjabi ਲੱਕੜ (lakkaṛ).
