Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-Aryan *Hrā́ṣṭi, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hrā́šti, from Proto-Indo-European *h₃rḗǵti, from Proto-Indo-European *h₃réǵeti (“to straighten; right”). Cognate with Latin regō (“to rule; to direct; to steer; to manage”).
Pronunciation
[edit]Verb
[edit]राष्टि • (rā́ṣṭi) third-singular indicative (class 2, type P, root राज्) (Vedic)
Conjugation
[edit]The only attestations are 3sg. indicative राष्टि (rāṣṭi) and 3sg. injunctive राट् (rāṭ), so it is strictly speaking unknown whether the weak stem was रज्- (raj-) or राज्- (rāj-).
