[edit]From Maharastri Prakrit 𑀭𑀁𑀥𑁂𑀇 (raṃdhei), from Sanskrit रन्धयति (randháyati), from Proto-Indo-European *lendʰ- (“to cook”). Cognate with Marathi रांधणे (rāndhṇe), Gujarati રાંધવું (rā̃dhvũ), Sindhi रधणु.
