Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘦𑘱𑘯𑘜𑘹 (miḷaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀫𑀺𑀮𑀇 (milaï), from Sanskrit मिलति (miláti, “to meet, encounter”). Cognate to Konkani मेळ्चे (meḷce), Gujarati મળવું (maḷvũ), Hindi मिलना (milnā), Punjabi ਮਿਲਣਾ (milṇā), Nepali मिल्नु (milnu), and Bengali মিশা (miśa).
