[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘦𑘮𑘿𑘧𑘹𑘨 (mahyera), 𑘦𑘰𑘂𑘮𑘨 (māihara), 𑘦𑘰𑘮𑘲𑘊𑘨 (māhīera), 𑘦𑘰𑘮𑘲𑘧𑘹𑘨 (māhīyera), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀫𑀸𑀇𑀳𑀭 (māihara), from Sanskrit मातृगृह (mātṛgṛha). Cognate with Gujarati મહિયર (mahiyar).
