Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *mr̥Hko-, from *mer- (“to shimmer, shine”), see also English morning, Lithuanian mérkti (“to blink, twinkle”), Greek μέρα (méra, “morning”)), and possibly Proto-Celtic *bāregos.
