[edit]Pokorny suggests Proto-Indo-European *bʰrewH- (“to well up, gush”).[1] Stokes instead compares Proto-Celtic *brusū (“belly, breast”) and possibly Ancient Greek βρύω (brúō, “to swell up”).[2]
