    Inherited from Prakrit 𑀯𑀼𑀟𑁆𑀠 (vuḍḍha) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-) without compensatory lengthening, from Ashokan Prakrit 𑀯𑀼𑀠 (vuḍha /⁠vuḍḍha⁠/), from Sanskrit वृद्ध (vṛddhá). Doublet of बूढ़ा (būṛhā). Cognate with Punjabi ਬੁੱਢਾ (buḍḍhā).
